WDAD Theme:

The theme for 2026, Voices of Delirium, highlights the importance of listening to and amplifying the lived experiences, perspectives, and stories of people affected by delirium including individuals, families, care partners, and health care providers. Delirium is a complex and often misunderstood condition characterized by acute changes in attention, awareness, and cognition; raising awareness requires not only clinical knowledge, but also a deeper understanding of the human impact behind the diagnosis. This theme invites us to center the voices, the narratives of confusion, insight, challenge, and resilience, that accompany delirium, reminding us that improving care starts with hearing and valuing those experiences. By bringing these voices into conversations, education, research, and policy, we can foster compassion, reduce stigma, and advance efforts to prevent, recognize, and manage delirium more effectively.
